Capacity Model Input Automation Project

Timeframe: 2010-2015

Company: ON Semiconductor

Overview

A series of scripts were written to automate the extraction and analysis of data from our systems

  • Saved our team the equivalent of 1 Industrial Engineer's time per year

  • Increased model accuracy and standardized data analysis methods within the department

  • Project was selected as a 2015 Global Industrial Engineering Initiative to implement at other manufacturing sites in Idaho, Belgium, Czech Republic, Japan, and Malaysia

What I Did

  • Identified a manual, time consuming business process (with improvement potential) and took action

  • Researched and found a software package that fit the needs of our business

  • Asked my manager to purchase a user license so I could start learning the software

  • Taught myself the software and its scripting language

  • Wrote scripts to automate the analysis of the most time consuming capacity model inputs:

    • Process Time (multiple script 'flavors' for different tool types: batch processing, single piece, chamber, etc.)

    • Setup Time (multiple script 'flavors' for different tool types: batch processing, single piece, chamber, etc.)

    • % of Lots Cascaded

    • Recipe Changeover Delays

  • Created summary reports for Process Engineering, Device, and Quality to track down improvement opportunities:

    • Tool Matching analysis output

    • Outlier Summary report

Chemical Barcoding and Validation Project

Timeframe: 2010-2015

Company: ON Semiconductor

The software company (RFgen) we used for our handheld barcode scanners drafted up a case study.

What I Did

  • Took over as Project Manager when a team member left the company

  • Kept the project on track while developing the next phase

  • Researched and developed a plan for implementing a dynamic Inventory Management solution to manage production chemicals in the Gresham, Oregon fab

  • Met/exceeded all project milestones
